How’d we get so lucky? It used to be we got one or two great animated features every few years, but it looks as if 2015 will be different. In addition to Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur and Minions, Hotel Transylvania 2 is another great feature we have to look forward to. The first one was a major surprise, proving that despite Adam Sandler’s involvement, it was actually pretty great.
The sequel looks every bit as good as the first, maybe even better. Whereas the first movie didn’t quite feel like it was sure of itself, the second (at least based on these trailers) feels confident, assured. And the jokes, albeit a little predictable, are so great.
Below is the movie’s official synopsis:
Now that Dracula (Adam Sandler) has opened the Hotel Transylvania’s doors to humans, things are changing for the better; however, Drac is secretly worried that his half-human grandson, Dennis, isn’t showing his vampire side. So, while Mavis and Johnny are away, Drac enlists his friends to help him put the boy through a “monster-in-training” boot camp. But things really get batty when Drac’s cantankerous, old-school dad (Mel Brooks) pays an unexpected visit.
Based on that synopsis, you can bet a lot of shenanigans will take place. I’m guessing the movie will wind up focusing on Adam Sandler’s character more than anything else, and not necessarily his grandkid’s humanness. Either way, it looks like a winner.
Hotel Transylvania 2 will hit theaters on Sept. 25, 2015.
